Did you know?
Although anyone can inquire about a wish, we must be contacted by one of the three referral sources to qualify a child for a wish.

History

It all began in 1980 with the simple dream of Chris, a boy from Phoenix, who wished to be a police officer for a day. Chris' friends and family made his wish possible, and after seeing the impact the wish had on him, his family and even the community, his friends formed the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Today, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has 65 chapters in the United States and its territories and 33 international affiliates. To date, the Foundation has granted more than 225,000 wishes worldwide and is the largest wish-granting organization in the world.

In 1986, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Washington was founded. In 2000, the chapter expanded its territory, enabling it to serve children throughout Alaska, Montana and Northern Idaho, in addition to Washington. Since that time, the local chapter has granted wishes to more than 4,000 children. Last year, the local chapter granted 307 wishes to children battling life-threatening medical conditions and this year 327 other children will realize their heartfelt dreams come true!
